Northwood Aberdeen was pleased to attend the recent agency business annual even in Glasgow hosted by the Scottish Association of landlord and the Council of Letting Agents. It was a particularly enjoyable day as Laura Mearns and Matt Pullinger were recognized as one of the first agents in Scotland to achieve the LETWELL qualification, one of the recognized forms of qualification by the Scottish government, which will become mandatory for all letting agents to have a qualification from January 2018.
Some highlights of the day were the keynote speaker Kevin Stewart MSP who talked about the challenging time in the sector and his plan to improve the private rented sector for all concerned.
The day also had a new feature of live debates so that agents could engage with a panel to discuss the topics in question like; How will the sector be policed with the pending registration of letting agents to rid the sector of rogue agents? How will the first-tier tribunal operate and assist landlords to deal with difficult tenancies, and where will these new courts sit? And what are the further opportunities for future investing for growth in the sector?
