Getting into the Christmas Spirit in Wrexham

There is so much going on in Wrexham this Christmas time. Our team wanted to share some of the festive frivolities that our city has to offer, but it has been really difficult choosing which events to highlight. From festive markets to wild family days out, a not so traditional pantomime, a visit to Santa and the opportunity to see some real-life Reindeer, a ride on a miniature train, lunch with Michael Bublé and a chance to get your hands dirty making a table centrepiece and these were just a few of festive delights on offer this year. The only difficulty will be choosing which ones to go to! Here are some of our top picks of what’s on this Christmas in Wrexham:

Wrexham Christmas Makers Market

Christmas isn’t the same without a Christmas market. Saturday 10th December sees a special festive version of our Makers Market that showcases the wares from our talented local makers. Browse through jewellery, art, homewares, ceramics, textiles, woodwork and so many more. Enjoy live music and sample the delights from the food court, now that is a Christmas shopping experience to remember. Head over to Tŷ Pawb this Saturday from 10am until 4pm.

Wrexham Christmas Market & Winter Festival

Also on this weekend is the Wrexham Chjristmas Market and Winter Festival. Get down to Queens Square the weekend on 10th & 11th of December for experiences, live entertainment, food and drink and lots of children’s activities over the 2 days.

Wild Family Woodland Christmas

Take a walk on the wild side of Christmas. This celebration of midwinter is held in the ancient woodland of the National Trust’s Erddig estate. During this family orientated day out you will make a Christmas woodland wreath to take home, visit the wishing tree, listen to the story of how Robin got his red breast, gather round the camp fire for carols accompanied by the Mandolin, enjoy roasted chestnuts, popcorn and other snacks, make a willow star to hang on your tree, find out how our ancestors celebrated the Winter Solstice, take a guided foraging walk and so much more! Cinderella

It’s Panto time! In this modern take on the classic Cinderella story, we see poor Cinderella desperately needing a break from working her fingers to the bone in the ugly sister’s beauty salon. The Royal Ball could be just the thing to take her mind off all that drudgery, but the ugly sisters have got different ideas! Santa’s Magical Grotto

The big question on everyone’s mind at this time of year, am I on the Nice or Naughty list? Find out by popping along to Eagles Meadow and visit the big man in his magical grotto. You don’t need to book and entry is free. For times and dates visit the Eagles Meadow Santa’s Magical Grotto page.

Christmas Farm

Located in Cefn-y-bedd, the aptly named Christmas Farm will help get you and your family into the Christmas spirit. As well as picking out your prefect tree you can visit the Reindeer (costs just £2 per person), sip hot chocolate and add a goodwill message to one of their wishing trees. Christmas Table Arrangement Workshop

Want to try your hand at making your own table arrangement for the big day? Visit Bellis Brothers Garden centre on 21st December for their Christmas Table Arrangement Workshop, you will enjoy a tea or coffee and a mince pie whilst you create your masterpiece. All materials are included in the cost and at the end of the workshop you will have centrepiece to take away with you. Now that is a Christmas dinner talking point!

Model Train Rides

Popular since the Polar Express film hit our screens, why not enjoy a festive train ride this Christmas? The Model Engineers of Wrexham have evening train rides to see the Christmas lights from 4:30pm to 7pm on 15th and 22nd December. They have tea and coffee available to help keep you warm and all train rides are free (donations are welcome). Christmas Lunch with Bublé

Enjoy a delicious three course lunch at the Rossett Hall Hotel as you enjoy the sounds of the King of Christmas with the festive Michael Bublé tribute entertainment.
