Finding a rental in Scotland
Not in Scotland? Switch to Step by Step Guide to Renting (England)
1. Finding a property
If you’ve found a property that you think would be a good fit for your circumstances and finances, you can arrange a viewing via the property page by clicking ‘book a viewing’, or contact your local office here
2. Paperwork
First, we’ll ask you to complete an Application Form which gathers all relevant details. Once approved, we’ll run a Credit Check which will confirm your identity, credit history and affordability. You’ll need to supply up to three references which we’ll check within one week. These forms should be straightforward, but if you require assistance, please do let us know.
3. Tenancy agreement & deposit
Once your paperwork has been submitted and approved, we’ll send the agreement prior to check-in day. On check-in day, you’ll receive the inventory and schedule of condition, along with your tenancy agreement, for you to check and sign. Please make sure you thoroughly read and understand all documents before returning to us.
Finally, you will need to pay your deposit plus the first month’s rent. You can do this via bank transfer, in our office or over the phone. Please note, the funds must clear before we can arrange the collection of your keys – this is usually a speedy process but may take a few days so you may wish to send this a few days in advance of your check-in day.
4. Collecting your keys
Congrats, it’s time to collect your keys! We’ll agree a date for you to come into the office to collect your keys.
If you haven’t already, you’ll meet your Property Manager and they’ll share all relevant contact and key details.
