Positive Trends in Property Market for 2024

According to Rightmove data*, the number of new properties coming onto the market for sale is up 15% compared to last year and buyer demand in the first week of 2024 is also 5% higher – a confident start!

In fact, since Christmas, Rightmove has seen nine out of its ten busiest days on record! This relates to people getting a Mortgage in Principle to see what they can afford to borrow as mortgage rates stabilise after a volatile 15 months or so.

Key Insights from Rightmove Data

Asking prices are up 1.3%, the strongest January month increase since 2020 and in the first week of 2024, buyer demand is up 5% compared to this time last year. In Aberdeen, asking prices are up by 4.2% year-on-year.

2023 carried some uncertainty within the estate agency market, but these initial findings suggest a smoother year for sellers and buyers in 2024.
