North East Picnic Spots

With the warmer weather, a picnic is an event in itself! Tuck into your favourite foods on the go, in your favourite park or on the beach. We’ve rounded up some of our top spots Aberdeen city and shire!

So, grab your chequered blanket and get creative with your sandwiches & snacks whilst we provide you with a run through on our top spots in the North East.

Aberdeen

Hazlehead Park: the ideal meeting point between the city and the shire with something for everyone from golf courses to a maze, to pets corner and iconic gardens.

Duthie Park: with the band-stand in the green, a boating pond and three seperate parks plus the Winter Gardens – it’s a winner!

Den & The Glen: with 28 acres of beautiful Royal Deeside scenery and questionable nursery ryhme and fairy-tale characture statues, feed your kids’ imaginations and their appteites on one of the many picnic benches.

The beach: head down to the promenade and settle in as you watch the waves roll in – just mind the seagulls!

Aberdeenshire

Stonehaven beach: build sandcastles and watch the boats in the harbour, or wander across and find funny shaped rocks to decorate.

Banchory: The King George V Park has a play area and skatepark – and plenty of greenery for running around, kicking a ball and of course, picnics!

Drumoak: Drum Castle has such a fun park for little ones, complete with a wooden camping area and zipline!

Peterculter: the VSA Easter Anguston farm has a Stick Man trail, friendly farm animals, ride-on tractors, berry picking AND a wee play park. Enjoy CUP Cafe if you end up with soggy sandwiches!

Alford: Haughton Country Park is a great wee spot with swings, roundabouts and climbing areas as well as plenty of space to run around.
