Twixmas Activities

Christmas has finished, the in-laws have headed home and there’s now a brief respite before we get to welcome in the New Year. Many of us are off work between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, so finding something to do during that Twixmas period can be a challenge.

Of course, you may want to kick back and relax, close the door and forget about the world for a while. But if you want to beat the boredom and make the most of your time, here is a list of Twixmas activities:

Twixmas Activities

Visit Friends and Family
The week between Christmas and New Year is actually a pretty good time to catch up with old friends and family members you haven’t seen for a while. Pick two or three people you’ve lost contact with over the last year and make the effort to give them a call and arrange a catch up. Not only does it get you out of the house, it gives you the chance to reaffirm important ties with loved ones.

Hit the Sales
You may have had enough of the hustle and bustle of shops and high streets during the run up to Christmas. Others simply love netting a bargain in the sales that start from Boxing Day. Make a list of what you are looking for and budget carefully if you want to keep control of your purse strings. If you don’t like the crowds and just can’t face the high street this year, you can always head online for those bargains.

Start Planning Your New Year Resolutions
The week between Christmas and New Year is also a pretty good time for working on those life changes you’re going to implement after 1st January. It could be getting fit, giving up smoking or making some big career decisions. While it’s quiet, you can use the few days of Twixmas to build your plan, set some goals and give yourself a better chance of succeeding.

Have a Declutter
Many people choose to have a clear out in the New Year but why wait for January? Twixmas is the perfect time to go through your home and get rid of all the hoarded items. It might seem like a big job to undertake when you’re still full of turkey and Christmas pudding, but you’ll feel a whole lot better once it’s done. Sort out your wardrobe, empty the garage and make a bit more room in your home – it’ll give you a sense of achievement and will set you up to go into the New Year clutter free.

Take a Walk in The Country
There’s nothing like a little fresh air and exercise to get you over the Twixmas slump. If you don’t want strenuous activity, a long walk in the country should be just the ticket. Get yourself wrapped up and head out to the park, your nearest forest or a local mountain range and blow away those Yuletide cobwebs.

Do Something New and Exciting
You can always choose to do something new to pep yourself up over the Twixmas week. It can be something as simple as trying out a new recipe, buying a pad and paints and getting in touch with your artistic side, or even something slightly dangerous like riding a zip wire or going for a Winter morning dip at the local seaside (yes people actually do that!). Whatever you do with your Twixmas time we hope you enjoy yourself if you’re lucky enough to get a nice long break!
