Torquay and South Devon Area Guide
The Torbay and South Devon office covers a wide and varied area. With well renowned countryside ranging from spectacular coastlines and harbours, rolling hills and valleys and the magnificent Dartmoor National Park, it is unsurprising that so many people choose to live in this wonderful part of the country.
Much of the housing in the area falls within the Torbay council area and consists of the coastal towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, renowned since Victorian times as the English Riviera. These towns have all that could be desired for modern living including a full range of retail outlets and some well renowned schools including three Grammar Schools. Torquay and Paignton are connected to the national rail network with trains through to London, the Midlands and the North. The newly completed South Devon Link Road has provided greatly improved connectivity for road traffic and will greatly reduce journey times.
The historic coastal towns of Dartmouth and Teignmouth each have their own very different character and are very popular with those seeking to live in a stunning waterfront location.
Newton Abbot and its surrounding towns and villages is a vibrant regional hub, with its mainline railway station and weekly markets. The town, along with the 'A38 Corridor' towns of South Brent, Buckfastleigh, Ashburton, Bovey Tracey and Chudleigh, is ever-popular for those working in the area or benefiting from short commuter times to Exeter and Plymouth.
Totnes and The South Hams have a rural charm all of their own and are hugely popular with both holiday makers and those looking to live away from the rat-race.
