The Northwood network couldn’t be prouder after three of our fittest completed the London marathon on Sunday. Barry Ireland, David Vann and Kerry Draper ran in memory of our former Managing Director Nick Cooper who died from pancreatic cancer in 2013, aged 50.
Barry and David ran around the course together and proudly crossed the finish line in their pink tutus and green hair in a very respectable 4:41 hours. Kerry was only 10 minutes behind in 4:52 hours. With over £6,000 raised for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund (PCRF) it really is an outstanding effort – both physically and in raising funds to help beat pancreatic cancer.
Kerry said “It hurt like hell but I loved every minute of it. It was a awesome day and woke up this morning and wanted to do it all over again.”
Barry commented on the last 6.2 miles ” we did with pure grit and determination and when we eventually turned the corner onto the mall with the finish in site, we even slowed to take it all in. We would like to thank everyone for their support, donations and good will messages, it really helped. PS. We have both now retired.”
David also commented “The crowd were out of this world. If it was possible to bottle the atmosphere & the sense of goodwill they throw at you and share it out, the world would be a far better place!”
